Annette Mahone, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023, at the Warm Springs Nursing Home. She was born on January 31, 1951, in Manchester, Georgia. Annette was the daughter of the late Mary E. Terry and Emmitt Mitchell Terry, Sr.
Annette’s educational journey began at Meriwether County Training School and continued as she attended Flint River Technical College. Her strong work ethic and dedication to community shone through during her time at Goodys Products and Lanier Clothing, as well as her later work with S&D Personal Care Services.
Annette Mahone accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at the New Hope Baptist Church. Later she joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.D. Walker.
Annette’s faith and commitment to service were evident in her 31 years as the Church Secretary at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She also served as the choir president, sharing her love for music and worship with her congregation. She also was the choir director for the youth and adult choir. Annette’s life was marked by her unwavering faith, deep love for her family, and dedication to service.
In her free time, Annette enjoyed singing in the choir, crocheting, and exploring the world of games and the internet on her tablet. Her passions and interests enriched her life and brought joy to those around her.
Annette was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Clinton Mahone; son, Eddie Darnell Mahone; brother, Eddie Terry; and twin sister, Burnette Terry.
She is survived by her loving children, Terra Mahone Echols, Tiffany Prather, Clinton Mahone, and Bryant Martin (Patricia); 19 grandchildren, including two whom she raised as her own, Jay and Mario; and 11 great-grandchildren. Annette was a cherished sister to six sisters, Jaunita Carter (Scott), Mary McGill, Martha Copeland, Evelyn Copeland (Charlie), Beverly Terry, and Mary Louise Hill, as well as two brothers, Charles Terry (Marie) and Emmitt Terry. She was a dear sister-in-law to Bettye Richardson (Leroy), Annie Grace Johnson, Carolyn Mahone, Albert Campbell, Adolph Mahone (Kate), and Tony Stevenson. Special friends include Annie Clara Holmes, the Campbell family, the Parham family, the Sheffield family, and her fellow members of the Class of 1969. Annette also leaves to cherish her memories a slew of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members, and friends who will always remember her as a faith-filled and loving woman.
