The Anointed and Appointed Dr. Henry Lewis Morgan was born, May 18, 1953, in Griffin, Georgia to the late Mrs. Ethel Morgan and Mr. John H. Morgan. He is the eldest of eight children. Apostle Morgan and First Lady Verlene (Bussey) Morgan were joined together in holy matrimony June 3, 1973. They are the proud parents of one son, Dwayne Morgan.
Apostle Morgan accepted the Lord at the age of 19 at the Woodbury Miracle Fellowship Center (W.M.F.C.) under the leadership of Pastor Ruth P. Calhoun. By the age of 20 he began to teach and carry the Gospel into the streets for many years. His leadership ability developed through his serving in many areas of ministry. His commitment to the ministry was reflected by his service as a Devotional Leader, Usher, and a Teacher of Primary, Junior and Adult Sunday School Classes. Adult bible classes were also held at: New Hope Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; Corinth Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; SpringHill Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; Rock Cathedral Holiness Church, Atlanta, GA; Word of God Tabernacle, Roberta, GA.
God’s call on his life to preach was fulfilled in 1982. He accepted the call to preach under the guidance of Apostle Johnny Washington in Atlanta, Georgia. He was later ordained to preach under the leadership of Pastor Lucile Woods of the W.M.F.C. God was molding him for an even greater work!
Under the leadership of Bishop Thomas Daniel, pastor of W.M.F.C., Apostle H.L. Morgan and V.B. Morgan was ordained to start a church.
Church services were only held on Saturday nights and they remain a faithful member of W.M.F.C. until they were released to pastor “Tabernacle of Joy Miracle Deliverance Center” in Griffin, Georgia on January 24, 1993. God moved in a mighty way and souls were added to the ministry. After six months of laboring in Griffin, Pastor Morgan officially opened at 509 East Broad Street, the “Tabernacle of Joy Miracle Deliverance Center” church and was ordained to the office of Pastor under the leadership Bishop A. V. Simpson, Pentecostal Move of God Church of Greenville, South Carolina. Within three years the growth of the ministry flourished, the building could no longer accommodate the people.
Apostle Morgan began to seek God for a solution to the problem and God favored him to purchase a larger building at 580 North Second Street also in Griffin, Georgia now in its 34th year of ministry. What a mighty God we serve!
He was called to the office of apostleship in February 1998 and was ordained under the guidance of Apostle Leslie Knox of Atlanta, Georgia.
In October 2000, God’s visionary Apostle Morgan was led to ordain and appoint to the ministry a Co-Pastor. Appointed to this position is “God’s Leading Lady” Evangelist Verlene Morgan. Evangelist Verlene Morgan accepted the Lord into her life at the early age of 12, and because of her sincere dedication and earnest prayer life as a youth; she became noted as a prophetess at a young age. God dealt with her with dreams and visions.
In 2002, Apostle Morgan was honored with the 2002 CHOSEN AWARD presented by The Atlanta Gospel Choice. The Chosen Award is given to Atlanta’s men and women of God who through their life and ministry are making a difference in our community.

Dr. H.L. Morgan was led by God to develop a ministry in 2014 to support Pastors, from his obedience was born INCC – International Connection of Churches. He was a leader and mentor to several churches over the years.
During his life Dr. H.L. Morgan was affectionately known to all as a man of God who walked the walk and talked the talk. His many messages were focused on directing people to Christ, young and old. He was a leader in getting the Word out, and used street services, tapes, TV, and web media. All to support the spreading of the gospel. As a pastor he reminded us in his 2022 message “A Role of a Pastor. Pastors should fulfill 4 roles as a leader of the congregation:
1] A Shepherd deal with the caregiver, nurturing, and the maturing of the flock 1 Peter 5:1-4
2] An Overseer deal with the oversight, the vision (Acts 20:28).
3] A Protector of the flock (Acts 20: 29-30).
4] A Watchmen of the flock (Hebrew 13: 17, & Isaiah 62:6).
He will be remembered as a man who loved God, loved his family, and loved his congregation.
Dr. H. L. Morgan leaves to cherish his memory and legacy, his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Verlene B. Morgan, a devoted son, Dwayne Morgan, two grandchildren, Serenity Barber and Dwayne T. Morgan, Jr., two great-grand, Elijah Barber and Zayne Morgan. Three brothers, Tommie (Joanne) Morgan of Griffin, GA, Jerome (Bonita) Morgan of Jacksonville, NC, and Robert (Lachion) Morgan of Hampton, GA.
Testimony from Dr. H.L. Morgan, “I thank God for the role and the position that God has appointed for me in his great plan. Not in a million years, I ever thought or imagined that I would be a preacher or a pastor, this was not in my plan in my younger days. The Role of a Pastor is a tough road, sometimes a lonely road, sometimes a misunderstanding road, but it is also a road of many great benefits
