Connie Ferguson Obituary

Connie Hamler-Ferguson, affectionately known as Mrs. Connie or Granny by her grandchildren, a cherished soul, left peacefully on February 16, 2024, while at Orchard View Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, Georgia. Born on June 15, 1956, to her late parents Walter Hamler and Blanche Hamler, Connie lived a life rich in love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends .

A proud attendee of Meriwether County Training School, Connie’s passion for learning was only matched by her love for cooking and her unwavering support for her favorite sports teams. She could often be found watching the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and Georgia Bulldogs or enjoying the unparalleled skills of Venus and Serena Williams. Connie also found peace listening to gospel music and shopping. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Connie, especially when surrounded by her cherished grandkids.

Connie was preceded in death by her late husband, Harold Ferguson, and her caring parents, Walter Hamler and Blanche Hamler; half-brother, Milton Whitehead.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and guidance through her beloved daughter, Dewandalynn Hardnett. Her spirit will live on through the joyful memories shared with her grandchildren , Sgt.Dezmond Crawl ( Alyssa ), and Justin Hardnett, as well as her treasured great-grandson, Jakobe Crawl, who was her absolute pride and joy. Her family circle extends to her half-sister, Jean Whitehead McGinnis, and niece, Kimberly McGinnis (Blu Bonner). Connie will also be fondly remembered by her favorite cousins, Keith Bridges (Anna), Roceano Reid, Sharita Beamon, and Tameka Evans, all of whom enriched her life. Connie’s kind heart and joyful spirit touched many lives who will also cherish her memories, including those in her Hidden Creek Apartment community and her special friends - the Armstrong family, the Hamlett family, Lynn Whitehead, Dee Ellison, Wynee Terry, Lula Edge, Tyronda Leath, James Speedy Crawl, and Ms. Liz – all of whom will miss her profoundly.

Connie’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her influence remains a guiding light. Her warmth, humor, and loving presence will forever resonate in the memories of her family and friends. Final Care provided by the licensed funeral care providers at McCoy Funeral Home.
