DeCourtney Prather

DeCourtney Prather was born at Warm Springs Medical Center on August 22, 1985, to Latrease Childs and Walter Prather.
DeCourtney attended LaGrange College and obtained a master’s degree. He was a faithful employee to American Homeshield for many years until he began his own business cooking and catering. DeCourtney was a loving son, grandson, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew, whom he loved dearly. Chanel often would affectionately greet her uncle by saying, “Courtney, where are you?” ... and it would make his day.
On March 29, 2023, DeCourtney departed his earthly life and body, and his spirit surrendered to his Master’s call.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Prather;two uncles, Curtis Favors and James Neal; and a great-grandmother, Sarah Favors.
DeCourtney leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Latrease Childs; stepfather who raised him, Mr. Warren Childs; grandmother, Elivie A. Favors; grandfather, Charles Neal (Georgia); one sister, De’Princia Childs; one uncle, Marcus Andrews; two aunts, Tiffany Favors, Melissa Wimbush; his nieces and nephew who he loved; Princess Sa’Riyah Slaton, Chanel Slaton, and Ya’Queen Slaton; and two cousins he was very close to, Jarrell Brewer and Qua Favors. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Final Rights and Care entrusted to the licensed professionals at McCoy Funeral Home.
