Always elegant and always poised. Mrs. Frances had a smile that could brighten any room and melt the hearts of all that she encountered. Mrs. Frances had a heart for taking care of those around her. She was always cooking and offering plates and a resting place for those loved as she was one of the Mothers of Hilltop. She never met a stranger. Her heart was as big as her smile. She was born on September 27, 1937 to the late Ben Hill and Helen Copeland.
Mrs. Frances departed her life on September 22, 2022. She celebrated her birthday a few days early on Wednesday September 21, 2022 with her children, a few of her grandchildren and a few of her great grandchildren. She was extremely happy about her celebration with the balloons and cake, which she has always loved.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Willie James Owens; her parents, Helen Copeland and Ben Hill Copeland; her children, Vanessa Brown, Michael Owens and Teresa Brown; her siblings, Will Copeland, Eugene Copeland, Mack Copeland, and Susie Hubbard.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved daughters, Frances Thomas, Elaine Owens, Octavia Banks, Melissa Stevenson; her sons: Willie Copeland (Chicago, IL), Willie James Owens, Jr and Christopher Owens (Michelle A. Owens); Brothers:
Larry Copeland and Nathaniel Copeland; Sisters: Magdalene Whaley and Mollie Copeland; Grandchildren: Timika Thomas, Terrious Thomas (Shawanda), Tobias Thomas (Renee’), LaKesha Thomas (Travis), Shawana Willis (Kelvin), Shabreka Owens, Shavoyea Owens, Shaniyah Barnes, Shabrena Copeland, Derrick Odums, Jr, Shakari Walton, Corinthian McGhee, Cortez Crisp, Tamara Barnes; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her close friend, Ronnie Leonard, who will miss her dearly.
