Georgie L. Holmes was a cherished seed planted by God, entrusted to the care of Brother Thomas and Mother Willie Mae Copeland Holmes. Born on March 15, 1937, she was their first child, nurtured and raised in faith.
Georgie received her education at Valley Grove School in Talbot County, Georgia. She joined the Valley Grove Baptist Church at a young age, dedicating herself to various ministries, including the choir, usher board, and the Motherboard.
She started her family with the birth of her eldest daughter, Gail, in 1957. In 1965, she married John Rolax, and together they had three children: Jennifer, Curtis, and Sycrene.
Her career included employment at Milliken Company, and she retired in 1991 from Goody Products, Inc. after 25 years of dedicated service.
In 2018, she was honored as the matriarch of Valley Grove Baptist Church, a testament to her long-standing commitment and love for her church community.
Georgie transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She was affectionately loved and known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Girlfriend.”
