Mr. Jackie Wilson, Sr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and United States Army veteran, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at his home in Talbotton, Georgia, at the age of 66.
Jackie was born on June 6, 1959, to the late Mary E. Wilson and the late Walter Wilson, Sr. He was raised on Smith Hill, where the people around him were more than friends—they were family. Jackie always remembered where he came from and never lost touch with the people around him.
Jackie attended Central High School and graduated with the Class of 1977. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, Jackie worked faithfully for many years at the Franklin Roosevelt Institution until he became disabled. Later in life, Jackie found love with Linda Leonard, and the two shared many years together before being joined in marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepdaughter, Kimberly Harvey; his grandmother, Sophia F. Thornton; his brother, Willie Wilson; and his mother-in-law, Mary F. Leonard.
Jackie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Linda Wilson; his son, Jackie Wilson, Jr.; his daughter, Jabria Wilson; his sister, Frances Scott; his brothers, Walter Wilson, Jr. (Lillian) and David Wilson (Lisa); a special aunt, Evelyn Allen (Steve).He also leaves a loving extended family, including his sisters-in-law, Mary Leonard, Dorothy Washington, and Alice Leonard; and his brothers-in-law, Willie Leonard, James Leonard (Christine), Clarence Leonard, and Johnny Leonard (Mary Ann); along with his nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends whom he loved dearly. Jackie was a proud and loving grandfather to Jykeria, Jaceyon, Azarius, Tikevius, Tamijay, Jaquavion, Latravius, Octavious, Shantavious, Jaxton, Jerrion, and Ikedrais. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Ivy and London. And two special people who he loved CC and Binkey
Jackie Wilson, Sr. will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and community.
