Jerome Martinez Jenkins age 47, raised in
Talbot County, passed away on Novmeber 30, 2022, at his home in Talbotton, Georgia. Jerome was born November 1, 1975, to his mother, Shelia Jenkins, and father, Jim Powell. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carter and Gloria Ann Jenkins, who raised him.
Jerome was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Central High School, Talbotton with the wonderful class of 1995. During his time at Central, he was a part of the Elite Central High Hawks football team, the fifteenth team to make it to the final four. Jerome was employed by Talbot County Sheriff Department as the chief jail administrator. He loved his job and everyone who worked with him. He was known as the life of every party he attended. “DJ Big Woo,” all he needed was his family, his music, and a microphone; and all was good in his world.
Family was Jerome’s life, and he had a big loving family. Jerome leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted and wonderful wife of seventeen years, Linda Biggs Jenkins; very dear to Jerome’s heart were his two daughters, Shanterious and Nykeria Jenkins; anyone knew Jerome could see his eyes light up at the mention of his granddaughter, Paris Holmes; he also leaves his loving mother, Shelia; stepfather,Moses Green; one sister, Iyonda Green; four brothers, Marcus, Chauncey, Jimmy, and Shtavis Powell; three sisters-in-laws, Shanitas Williams, Demetria Williams, and Rosia Biggs Jackson; three special nieces, Lamiya Mahone, Nikila Williams and Alaisha Parham; three special nephews,Levi Marshall, Kaiden Williams, and Jamarion Williams; many aunts, Mae Ruth Mizell, Annie Upchurch, Henrietta Bowman, Wanda Trice (Jay), Carol (Curtis) Dixon of Atlanta, Georgia, BrendaHightower of Shiloh, Georgia, Annie Clark of Thomaston, Georgia, Annie Powell, Annie Harig, Tammy (Dale) Lockhart, Tonia Jenkins (Ren), and Terri Jenkins (Jarvis); uncles, Calvin Biggs and Larry Cook of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert (Becky) Cook of Hopkins, South Carolina, Larry Mizell of Columbus, Georgia, Dennis Mizell of Jacksonville, Florida, George Powell, Johnny (Ida) Mizell, Charlie (Melissa) Biggs, James Biggs, and Andre Jenkins of Talbotton, Georgia; great- uncles, James (Joann) Trice and Thomas Jenkins of Talbotton; a special cousin who was more like a brother, Travis Terry; a host of favorite cousins, nieces, and nephews; Jerome cherished his lifetime brotherhood with his boys, Jerome Searcy, Marcus Thomas, Eddie Trice, Jr., William Jackson, Sheriff Justin “Jake” Johnson, Frederick Cotton, Quinton Mahone, Wesley Favors, Michael Ryles, and Christopher Raines; and the great classmates of Central Of Talbotton High School, the class of 1995.
