Jesse Haynes Obituary

Jesse Alex Haynes, lovingly known as “Fat,” went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2024, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on January 16, 1940, in West Point, Georgia, Jesse lived a rich and fulfilling life of 84 years, leaving an enduring legacy of love, faith, and hard work.

He was the beloved son of the late Dennis Haynes and Fannie Mae Haynes. Growing up with a strong foundation of family values, he carried these principles into every aspect of his life. He was the rock of his family, a man of unwavering strength, a devoted family man, and a pillar of faith who guided and inspired those around him.

In Atlanta, he found his lifelong partner and greatest supporter, Deloris Haynes. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage, a union built on love, faith, and resilience. They raised their five children: Alexis Haynes (Amy), George Haynes (Cynthia), Valerie Copeland (Darrell), and the late Vivian Latrice Haynes and Chad Avery Haynes. Jesse adored his grandchildren—Brittni Jones (Byron), Kacey Haynes, Ashlee Haynes, Joshua Haynes, Alexa Benson (Tywon), Desmond Moss, Jessy Haynes, Oreonna Brochu (Kyle), Karlie Haynes, Ambrielle Greenwood, Kaden Greenwood, and Darriane Copeland—as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Mackenzii Crawford-Jones, Rayson, Phoenix, Très, & Stormi Jones, Kyleigh Brochu, Pharrah Haynes, Kanai & Salem Benson, Zaiden Granger, Nova Greenwood, and the late Kairo Brochu.

Jesse was a hardworking man who built his life on determination and ingenuity. A graduate of Carver Vocational School, he carved out a successful career in real estate. Whether flipping houses or managing properties, Jesse had an incredible knack for making things happen. If a problem arose, he was the man to call—either he could solve it himself or knew just the right person who could.

Deeply rooted in his faith, he found joy in his spiritual journey. He gave his life to Christ under the leadership of Brother Donald Abernathy at New Life Assembly and later became a dedicated pillar of The Power of Healing & Deliverance Ministries, led by his son Alexis. He had a deep love for worship and expressed his joy through a dance that could light up any room. Whether encouraging someone with his wisdom or worshiping God with unbridled enthusiasm, he left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met.

He also had a passion for life’s simple pleasures. A dedicated football fan, he spent countless hours enjoying the game. Though his professional and spiritual accomplishments were great, his true joy came from the family he loved so fiercely.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Fannie Mae Haynes; his siblings Dennis, Chestene, James, George, Harrison, Edward, Charlie Lillie Woodruff, Mattie Isom, and Sallie Maude; and his children Vivian Latrice Haynes and Chad Avery Haynes.

Jesse Alex Haynes leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, and tenacity that continues to shine through the lives of all who knew him. A devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, and great-grandfather, his unwavering strength and steadfast faith served as an anchor for his family, impacting every generation. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deloris; his cherished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Rest in peace, Jesse. Your unwavering love and legacy will forever guide us.
