Jimtavias “Jim” Cartez Thompson will forever be known for his contagious smile, infectious laugh, giving heart and great sense of humor. He was a caring son, brother, uncle and friend. Jim was born to the parentage of Mrs. Carolyn (Bobby) Ellison Thompson and Mr. Jimmy Brooks on March 02, 1991.
Jimtavais graduated from Manchester High School and later Flint River Tech where he studied Auto Mechanics. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Jim took pride in fishing, loved entertaining, and enjoyed spending time with family. He also had a love for music and being the favorite uncle of his nieces and nephews. Having no children of his own, he enjoyed spending “Uncle Time” with Jalani, Princeton, Kyrin, Josiah, and Journi.
On Monday, February 20, 2023, Jim transitioned to his heavenly reward. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mary and Jesse Brooks, Robert Thompson, brother Jimmy Fuller, and aunt, Tessica Dozier.
Jim leaves to cherish his memories his mother and bonus father, Carolyn and Bobby Ellison, Jr.; father, Jimmy Brooks, grandmother, Shirlene Harris; great-grandmother, Betty Jenkins; sisters, Jamelia Brooks, Raytreshia Walton, Towanna Render, Temika Brooks, Itelia Olgetree, and Cherelle Brooks, brothers, Jaterrio Brooks, Bobby Ellison lll, Jimmy Brooks Jr., Kelvin (Carla) Greene, Jatorrio (Christina) Brooks, Jamarious Brooks, and Rodarian Owens; two uncles, one who took great care of him, James Henry, five aunts; special friend, Tyhogany Bell, best friends, Tony Benning, Demario Rawls, JerMario Cooper, Willie Anthony, Jared Moyston, and Devyus Campbell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who love him dearly.
