Obituary

Kenyatis affectionally known as “Butta” to some and “Bootz” to others, was born in Thomaston, Georgia at Upson Regional Medical Center on January 17th, 1985, to his loving parents Jeffrey and Sherin Sutton. On July 21st, 2023 our beloved Kenyatis peacefully transitioned while surrounded by family to his heavenly home.

Kenyatis attended Central Elementary and High School in Talbotton, Georgia, and graduated in 2003.

Kenyatis was raised in the church from an early age and often song in the youth choir alongside his cousins at Concord Baptist Church. He later accepted Christ into his life, and joined New Beginnings Community Church.

Kenyatis was a beautiful soul with a giving heart, and always met you with a smile. He could light up any room, and found pure joy in making those around him laugh. Kenyatis lived life to the fullest with no regrets. He loved his family and friends, and took pride in being the one they could call on whenever needed. In 2010 and 2012, Kenyatis suffered many injuries following vehicular accidents, and in 2021 he was diagnosed with colon cancer. However, Kenyatis was a person of strong faith, and was determined to persevere with his faith never wavering. He fought life’s battles head on with a smile, and never complained. He truly lived up to the name “Kenny Strong”.

Kenyatis was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Leonard Searcy, his paternal grandparents Carrie and Marshall Powell, his aunt Laticha Hawkins, and cousin Jarvis Durham.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Loving and dedicated parents Sherin and Jeffrey Sutton; son Kelvonius Johnson; bonus children Wacheicqua Watson, Dechariah Johnson, and Randy Powell; brothers Eric Bowles (Ashley), Torrey Sutton (Keisha), and Nicholas Dunn; a loving grandmother Rosa Searcy; a loving and devoted partner Yasmine Leonard; mother-in-love Lucille Leonard; sister-in-love Miya Leonard; nephews Etarian Bowles and Braylen Bowles; aunts Eula Mccullogh (Harold), Cheryl Brown (Larry), Linda Williams (Trenton), Lafaye Gamble, Regina Johnson, Betrice Thompson, Angelika Lindsey (Cedric), Tojunyna Digby; uncles Wendell Searcy (Gaile), Darrell Thompson, Reginald Sutton, Joe Wright, Roderick Sutton (LJ), Christopher Sutton (Sonya), Derrickus Thompson, Ronald Powell (Yvonne), Marshall Powell (Shasity), Michael Powell, Tavares Powell, and Marcus Powell; close cousins Ebony Harvey (Kelvin), Valarie Searcy, Derrick Owens, and Ruffin Jones (Angel); a loving and devoted cousin and caregiver Carmello Searcy whom he loved dearly; great aunts and uncles Bobbie Owens, Willie Sutton (Beatrice), Lizzie McDowell (Allen), Gloria Sutton, Gregory Sutton, Katie Davis (Henry), Theresa Searcy, Jesse Owens, Gussie Owens, Ella Owens, Carolyn Sutton, Elsie Searcy, Charlie Searcy, and Lamar Walker; and a host of cousins and friends who loved him dearly.
