Mrs. Mae Bell Leslie was born on June 10, 1932, in Fayetteville, Georgia, to the late Chop and Rochelle Mitchell.
She received her education in Meriwether County Public School System. At an early age, she joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she began to sing in the adult senior choir until her health declined.
Mrs. Mae Bell began her work life at Norman W. Paschal in Peachtree City, Georgia for several years and later worked at Goode Bros. Poultry in College Park, Georgia until she was medically retired.
Mrs. Mae Bell was preceded in death by her loving late husband, James Harvey Leslie whom she was married to for 63 years before his passing; her daughter, Bernice Leslie Stokes; and son, Larry Kent Leslie.
On Monday evening, December 18, 2023, God called her home to his Heavenly Kingdom. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: seven children, James Leslie Jr., Willie Frank Leslie, and Joe Henry Leslie, all of Gay, Georgia, Peggy (Eugene) Moss of Union City, Georgia, Gaynelle (Andre) Davis of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Charles (Felicia) Leslie of Griffin, Georgia, Angela (Henry) Louder of Greenville, Georgia; two grandsons whom she raised as her own: Derrick (Laquita) Stokes of Griffin, Georgia and Antonio Stokes of Jonesboro, Georgia; 22 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 15 great- great-grandchildren, special nephew, Leonard Tucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
