Mary Jane Hardnett was born on February 20, 1955, in Greenville, GA, to the late Mr. John Andrew Hardnett and Mrs. Alma Hardnett.
Mary Jane peacefully left us on January 4, 2025, at 69, surrounded by her loved ones in LaGrange, GA.
Mary Jane attended Meriwether County Public Schools, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by hard work and a deep commitment to family. She had a strong work ethic and dedicated many years of service at the Pepper Plant and Hilton Hotel, where she made lasting friendships and touched the lives of many.
Above all, Mary Jane loved being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed lively family gatherings, cooking delicious meals, and dancing to any tune—or sometimes no tune at all. Her joyful spirit and passion for life were evident to all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Betty Jo Clark, a brother Willie Lee Hardnett, her precious daughter, whom she lost at birth and the love of her life Oliver “Sonny” Marks III.
She is survived by her children, Bershon Holt, Demtreus Holt, Anthony Holt (Ann), and Akeus Holt (Sharika); her sisters, Lurlene McCrory, Barbara Chambers; brothers, Johnny Lee Hardnett (Rose), and John Hardnett Jr. (Willie Lee); and her cherished grandchildren, Taniyria Holt, Jacques Shockley, Anthony Holt Jr., and Jaqueshia Wright. She also leaves behind her aunt, Odessa Hardnett, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who loved her dearly.
Mary Jane was a kind and generous soul, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. Her warmth, positivity, and devotion to her family and friends will never be forgotten.
Mary Jane’s legacy of dance, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Viewing for the public hours are 3:00pm-6:00pm January 9,2025.
