LaRelle Copeland was born on November 3, 1967, to the union of James “CAP” Copeland and Shirley M. Copeland.
LaRelle accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Shiloh, Georgia.
She later joined Woodbury Miracle Fellowship Church of Woodbury, Georgia, where she was ordained as a minister.
LaRelle graduated from Central High School in Talbotton, Georgia, Class of 1985. She went on to study at Gordon Junior College in Gordon, Georgia, and later transferred to Fort Valley State College in Fort Valley, Georgia, where she received her Bachelor of Social Work. LaRelle continued her studies and later earned her Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University in Troy, Alabama.
As a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Theta Xi Omega Chapter, LaRelle embodied Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood to be of “Service to All Mankind.”
She made her transition on Monday, August 7, 2023. LaRelle was preceded in death by her father, James “CAP” Copeland; and grandparents, Edward and Jessie M. Copeland and Frank and Annie J. Copeland.
LaRelle is survived by her mother, Shirley M. Copeland; great- aunts, Jeannie M. Jenkins, Mattie L. Hodo, Patricia Copeland, and Mattie R. Terry; great-uncle, Zannie (Pete) Copeland, Sr.; aunts, Bernice Parks, Eunice Copeland, Inez Copland, JoAnn C. Watt, Martha A. Prather, Mollie Reed, and Ruby Copeland; uncles, Willie Jame Copeland, Reverend Eddie L. Copeland (Pete), and James E. Copeland (Butterball); sisters, Pamela Nieves, Marie Smith, Annie P. Stringer, Vickie Montgomery, Tera “Lynn” Blunts, Valerie Jackson, and Renea “Shell” Copeland; brothers, Anthony Copeland, Zeri Huddleston (Kelly), Travis Copeland, LaVictor R. Copeland (Ramon), Minister David Chunn, Mininster Joey Reese, and Jimmy Clemons; special babies, DaShaunti Parks, Alexis Johnson, Tenisha Little, and Noah Copeland; and a host of cousins and friends.Final Care provided by the Licensed Funeral Care Providers at McCoy Funeral Home.
