Norman Barron was born November 25, 1935, in Talbot County, Georgia to the late Mr. Fletcher and Mrs. Carrie Bell Jones Barron. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mr. Eric Barron; five sisters, Hattie Barron Dixon, Emily Barron Ford, Joyce Mae Barron Thornton, Dicie Lee Barron Couch, and Lurene Thornton; four brothers, Fletcher Barron, Jr., Mr. W. J. Barron, Mr. Arthur G. Barron, Sr., and Mr. Olen Barron.
Norman gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Friendship Baptist Church in Woodland, Georgia where he served as a young man. He later attended Elizabeth Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio, and New Salem Baptist Church after moving back to Georgia.
In 1954, Norman graduated from Woodland High School in Woodland, Georgia. He served in the United States Army for two years. He went on to have a long career with the United States Postal Service in Cleveland, Ohio, eventually retiring in Youngstown, Ohio. In his spare time, Norman enjoyed volunteering with the Boys Scouts of America. He also enjoyed being in the fresh air outside and traveling with family.
Norman was formerly joined in holy matrimony with Ms. Albert Ruth Worthen. To this union, two beautiful girls were born, Thessalonia and Valerie.
Later he joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Jeralene Holifield Barron. This union included three amazing children, Eric, Sharon, and Scott Barron.
He leaves to cherish his memory of 41 years, a devoted wife Mrs. Jeralene Barron; three daughters: Ms. Thessalonia Barron Winters, Ms. Valerie Barron Starks, both of Michigan, and Miss Sharon Barron of Minnesota; one son, Mr. Scott Barron of Columbus, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Floyd Tumbling III, Thessa Washington, Candace (De’Llontae) Johnson, Caitlin Starks, Casey Starks, Brandon Christopher Barron, Orman Barron, Amber Barron, Kimberly Barron, ZyQuon Barron, ZiYonna Barron, Zikey Ford, and Zikeria Moosie. four great-grandchildren, Adrianna Tumbling, Austin and Aria Johnson, and Mylik McGarrity, Jr.; two brothers, Mr. Willie Clyde Barron (Louise) of East Point, Georgia, and Mr. Jimmy Lee Barron of Snellville, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Dixon Barron, Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. Denise Pope and Ms. Sharventries Cannon, both of Birmingham, Alabama; four brothers-in-law, Mr. Jeff (Augustine) Ford and Mr. Daniel (Charlie Mae) Couch of Talbotton, Georgia, and Reverend Marvin Williams (Circealtric) and Mr. Montie Pope, both of Birmingham, Alabama; and two dear friends, Mr. Melvin Landers and Mr. Tyrone McGwincia; also, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
