Mrs. Ola Mae Holmes, also known as “Blue Bird,” was born
on October 8, 1946, to the late Veola Bowles and Sheen Willis
in Meriwether County, Georgia. Ola Mae joined Woodbury Miracle Fellowship Center at a very early age.
Ola Mae received her education in the Meriwether County
school system. She was employed at Nabisco, Photo Circuit,
Lanier Clothing, and later in life, she did home health care
until her health failed.
Ola Mae married the late Melvin Holmes on November 20,
1965. They were later blessed with seven girls and one boy.
Ola Mae was welcomed into her eternal home on Friday,
December 6, 2024, by her husband, Melvin Holmes; mother,
Veola Bowles; father, Sheen Willis; one daughter, April McKee;
one sister, Becky Bowles; and three brothers, Tommy Bowles,
Sr., Jessie Willis, Sr., and Eddie James Bowles.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her one son,
Colby Holmes, Sr., of Woodbury, GA; six daughters, Angela
Holmes, Michelle Campbell (Artemus), Wendy Holmes,
Melva Holmes, and Raven Holmes, all of Woodbury, GA, and
Tiffany Holmes (Timothy) of Manchester, GA; one son-in-
law, Derrin McKee of Manchester, GA; three sisters, Arlillie
King and Alice Bowles, both of Manchester, GA, and Darlene
Willis-Rucker of Woodbury, GA; five brothers, Henry Bowles,
Jerry Lewis Bowles (Susan), Timothy Howard, Christopher “Dog” Willis, and Joseph Howard (Sylvia), all of Woodbury,
GA; nineteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all miss her dearly
