Olivia Alberta Mitchell-Ford-Hancock

November 18, 1947 ~ December 10, 2022 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Olivia Mitchell-Ford-Hancock Obituary

Olivia better known as Bay Mitchell, Jen Ann, and Gram was born on November 18th 1947 to the late Mr. William “Will” Mitchell Sr. and Ms. Ozella “Zell” Blackmon Mitchell in Concord, GA. On Saturday December the 10th, 2022, God called her home to rest from labor to reward. Her last words was just like a praise break “Lord have Mercy, Thank you Jesus.” Olivia was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a sister, and an aunt. Especially to her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Olivia accept Jesus Christ as her personal lord and savior at a very young age at Old Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. As years passed on, under the leadership of Pastor Travis L. Ferguson she rededicated her life and was re-baptized. Olivia also served on numerous Committees. The Senior Usher Ministry, Senior Choir, The Combined Choir, Women Ministry, and couldn’t miss that Tuesday morning Bible Study.

Olivia a 1966 graduate of the Pike County Consolidated High School, Concord, GA, played 4 yrs of the high school Basketball under the coaching of the late Dr. D.F. Glover and Ms, Beulah Owens, as Co-Captain of the team, then Captain.

After graduating, she attended Griffin Vocational Technical School, which is now Southern Crescent Technical College, Griffin, GA.

She loved putting puzzles together and watching Football, Basketball, and Baseball during their seasons. And once served as Assistant Manager and Manager of the Hilltop Community Subdivision Ladies Softball Team in the early 1970s. 

Olivia was a great seamstress for many companies that she worked for. As years passed by she became a great beautician and hair stylists for Linda’s Beauty Salon, until her health declined and she became confined to a wheelchair, no longer able to get around on her own. 

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Hudson Ford Jr. and was blessed with 5 children. 

In the month of July 30th & 31st, during the Blackmon and Greggs Family Reunion Gathering she received her Family Heritage year 2022 becoming a Hall of Fame Honoree and was crowned one of the Queens. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. William “Will” Mitchell and Ms. Ozella “Zell” Blackmon Mitchell. Her daughter Tangela Chundrell Ford. Brother Mr. William “Charles” Mitchell Jr.. Sister Ms. Willie (Mae Mitchell) Dixon. Nieces Ms. Wanda R. Mims and Ms. Jackie Mitchell. And Great Niece Tiffany Sheree Mims. 

She Leaves as her Legacy her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Daughters and son-in-laws Mrs. Evangeline C. “John” Harp, Griffin, GA, Mrs. Falangela “Brett” Elsbree, Miami, FL, Sons Mr. Hudson Ford III Griffin, GA and his Daughter Mattiera “Ivan” Holsey, Manchester, GA, Mr. Joshua Ford and Ms. Niesha Parks, Concord, GA with daughters Jaliyah Ford and Ari Ford.

Three grandchildren she raised as if they were her own and 9 great grand children Mr. Anthony Marshall Jr. Griffin, GA, his children Ah’King, Ethan, Kynlee, and Zayden Marshall, Ms. Tekerrie Ozella Talmadge, Griffin, GA, Mr. Justice “J’mon” Newton, Barnesville, GA, with his children Jacier, Heaven, Nevaeh, Nacier, and Ja’Nyla Newton. 

Her remaining Sisters Ms. Georgia Bell Mims, Concord, GA, her children the late Ms. Wanda Ruth Mims, and Mr. Rexter “Kizzy” Mims, Ms. Sarah Holloway, Columbia, TN, her son Mr. Christopher “Chris” Worthy, Concord, GA, Ms. Linda M. Hastings, Columbia, TN, her daughter, Keiana Hastings, Nashville, TN, Ms. Mildred M. Pace, Columbus, OH, her children, Mr. Jerome and Mr. Mark, as well as the late Ms. Jackie Mitchell, Ms. Christine M. “Anthony” Neal, Columbus, OH, her children, Ms. Sandra, Ms. Nicole, and Ms. Stephanie, the late Ms. Willie Mae M. Dixon, her children, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Theresa, Ms. Angie, Ms. Mildred, and Ms. Bridget. 

Her remaining Brother Mr. Winston R. “Nelly” Mitchell, Woodbury, GA, their children, Vicky and Ken, and Mr. Timothy L. “Mookie” Mitchell, Jonesboro, GA.

Three special Great Nieces and Nephews Mrs. Tonya M. “Jermaine” Washington, Mrs. Valerie M. “George” Smith, Ms. Natrica D. Mays, Mr. Mario D. Mims, Mr. Dexter J. Mays and Mr. Christopher “Chris” Worthy, as well as a host of great great and great great great nieces and nephews.  

Her Aunt Ms. Lootie B. Blackmon, Bell Glaze, FL. 

Special cousin and friend Ms. Flora Mae Blackmon, Tyler, TX and Nurse Ms. Aja Alexander, Griffin, GA as well as a host of other cousins, family and friends.
