Richard “Slick” Scott was born May 21, 1949, in Midland, Georgia, to J.C. and Mammie Scott. He departed this life on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Orchard View Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, Columbus, Georgia.
He worked many years as a skilled cement finisher- a profession in which he dedicated himself to with hard work and precision. He took great pride in his craft, which built and shaped many structures throughout Southwest Georgia and Alabama.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Mammie Scott, and brother Jimmy "Cheese" Harper.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter Tammie (Raymond) Perry; two sons, Richard Bussey and Jerry Clark; eight grandchildren- Jazmine Perry, Tyler Perry, Samon Roberts, Saphire Hughes, Darius Trawick, Nadia Trawick, Breanna Owens, and Jasmine Clark; ten great-grandchildren; two nephews; his loving cousin, Felix (Shirley) Walton, who was like a brother to him; as well as a host cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Orchard View Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center of Columbus, GA, for their devoted care and support.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Waverly Hall City Hall, 9108 GA-85, Waverly Hall, GA 31831.
