Sammy Davis Obituary

Sammy Davis was born August 20, 1959, to the late Herring Davis Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Davis. He was the tenth of eleven children. Sam departed his earthly realm on August 12, 2024.

Sammy Davis received his education from both the Meriwether County School System and the Harris County School System.

Sammy Davis was employed by West Point Pepperell for some time and also Callaway Gardens. Sam was also a self-taught mechanic, which he worked until his health declined.

 

Sammy Ray accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Living Christ Tabernacle under Pastor Henry Lee Tucker who was also his brother-in-law and also a father figure and friend.

Sammy Davis was Joined in holy matrimony to Christine Davis and to this union six children were born. Sam and Christine have been married for forty-four years.

Sam Davis was loved by so many. He was a jack of all trades. Sammy was even a comedian in his own regard, but always had to remind you, “It was a joke.” Sammy Davis gave those around him a run for their money. Sammy held many titles. He was called husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle, friend, and coach. Sam Davis never met a stranger.

In addition to his father and mother Sam Davis was preceded in death by four sisters Bessie Brooks, Barbara Ponder, Pauline Tucker, Dorothy Ann Ogletree, four brothers, Herring Davis Jr., Harold Davis, Curtis Davis Sr., Ronald Davis, one grandson Jaylen Davis.

 

Sam leaves  to cherish his memories his wife Christine Davis of Lagrange, Ga. Six children Lawanda Davis, Crystan Davis, Monique Davis, Pedro (Latisa) Davis, Marcus Davis all of Lagrange Ga, Tyrone (Taneka) Davis of Newnan, Ga two bonus daughters Audrey Heard and Ciera Reese both of Lagrange, Ga, three sisters Patricia (Prophet Raymond) Leslie of Houma, La, Deloris (Jesse Alex) Haynes of Atlanta, Ga, Dianne (Lee) Moss of Sharpsburg, Ga, three brothers-in-law Bishop Henry Lee Tucker of Pine Mountain, Ga, Deacon JobePonder and Deacon Johnny Brooks both of Atlanta, Ga, four sisters-in-law European Davis, Ruby Davis, Annie Clara Harris all of Pine Mountain, Peggy Davis of Decatur, Ga, eighteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, one aunt Bessie Fitzpatrick of Pine Mountain, Ga, cousins, and friends. A special friend Deacon Lee Moss and a special cousin Sonny Fitzpatrick and all his golfing buddies.
