Velma Hood

Velma Ann Hood was born February 8, 1963, in Meriwether County, to John Willis Hood, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Hood. Velma grew up in Gay, Georgia and was educated in the Meriwether County Schools system.

She became a member of Faith Chapel at a young age.
Velma loved life and being with family. She always wanted to look her best and cooking was one of her fondest hobbies. Early Monday morning, July 1, 2024, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice, the Lord called Velma to her heavenly home for rest. She will be truly missed by her family and everyone that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brother Marion (Mary) Keith.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories: her daddy, John Willis Hood, Sr. of Gay, GA; seven children, Roderick Hood of Gay, GA, Latrella Keith of Newnan, GA, Jennifer Holmes of Macon, GA, Sharontaz Hood (Ramona) of Grantville, GA, Coretta Hood of Hogansville, GA, Joshua Hood (Ashley) of Newnan, GA, and Cordre Hood of LaGrange, GA; and 19 grandchildren; siblings, Betty (David) Render, Atlanta, GA, Stanley (Shabrica) Keith of LaGrange, GA, Clara Keith (James) Brown of LaGrange, GA, Willie Lene Hood of LaGrange, GA, Rosa Kate Hood of Gay, GA, Eva Mae (Richard) Clemons of Woodbury, GA, John Willis Hood, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Lisa (Bobby) Turner of LaGrange, GA, and other sibling, Travis (Tiffany) Prather.
